SCORE: How To Fire A NonProfit Board Member
A successful Non Profit Organization requires strong and effective
leadership from the Board of Directors. However , all it takes is
on toxic, underperforming Board Member to derail all of the
efforts put forth by the rest of the Board. If a Board Member is
not engage or contributing to the greater good of the organization,
it may be time to gently nudge the board member to step down
or in an extreme case termination. Yes, volunteers can be
terminated. Even if you have not experienced the need to
fire a Board Member, understanding the process and an
alternative approach will benefit you and your Board in the
future if a situation should arise . This session will outline
when it is appropriate to fire a Board Member, the process
to follow when terminating a Board Member, and alternative
ways to avoid the dreaded task of stating "You're Fired"

as CEO, and serving on the Board of Directors with extensive
experience in change management programs, operations,
staff development, capacity building, fundraising, grant writing,
